Johnny Nelson has provided his thoughts on a variety of subjects this week, among them what he believes Anthony Joshua must do in order to defeat Oleksandr Usyk.
On August 20, Joshua rematches the current heavyweight champion in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in a bid to reclaim the titles he lost in September of last year.
In an interview with Boxing Social’s Ayman Khan, Nelson said:
“Jump on that m**********r and don’t let him breathe!”
“Keep in his face, use your heavyweight speed, power, accuracy, weight, and if you do that, you get the win.”
During the build-up of the first fight last year, Joshua claimed that he wanted to give Usyk a boxing lesson. This plan backfired as he himself got outboxed by Usyk and lost via unanimous decision.
Calls were made for the British heavyweight to change his style and be more aggressive during the rematch.
Following the loss Joshua worked with different trainers and finally settled on Robert Garcia, who some believe will help ‘AJ’ make the necessary adjustments to defeat Usyk.
Nelson’s comments echo the sentiments of some boxing fans who want to see Joshua be more offensive against Usyk. He believes that Joshua is capable of ending the fight early.
In an interview with the Daily Mail the former WBO cruiserweight champion gave this prediction:
“The fight doesn’t go the distance, and I’m going to back the Brit and go with Anthony Joshua with a stoppage win.”
