Joseph Parker has been given a boost by Deontay Wilder’s revelation about the last time he trained.
The pair are set to come to blows on a huge night in Saudia Arabia on December 23. Their fight comes alongside the likes of Anthony Joshua versus Otto Wallin, Dmitry Bivol versus Lyndon Arthur, Daniel Dubois versus Jarrell Miller and many more.
New Zealander Parker will be a stiff test for former WBC champion Wilder who has knockout wins over the likes of Robert Helenius and Luis Ortiz but lost two of his three fights with Tyson Fury
Speaking to 78SportsTV, Wilder detailed his fitness levels this year, stating he hasn’t been in training for a month.
“I been ready, although I haven’t been training for probably a month or whatever.
But you gotta look at the several months that I was training and fights was falling through and we didn’t get what we wanted so my body has been through all types of training camps that prepare me for this particular moment.”
He then caveated that with not wanting to miss out on the chance of a big fight.
“So if you can’t rise to the call of duty at short notice you’re going to miss out. And I don’t want to miss out on any opportunity because it’s already easy for me to miss out on those because of what I’ve been doing. I’d be unified champion already if these guys gave me the opportunity but none of the guys ever want to give me that opportunity.”
