Joseph Parker has had an incredible 12 months in the boxing ring and has now turned his attention to calling out a heavyweight for a big rematch, but it isn’t against Anthony Joshua like some people may have expected.
Parker picked up two huge victories in the past few months, first defeating Deontay Wilder on the Day of Reckoning card in December, before following that up win a win over Zhilei Zhang in March.
Fans began to speculate that a rematch with Joshua could be next, after Joshua also enjoyed a superb past year, beating Francis Ngannou, Otto Wallin, Robert Helenius and Jermaine Franklin.
Parker appears to have another name in mind though, after he took to social media to call out Dillian Whyte, after the two men previously fought in 2018.
Whyte was victorious on that occasion, winning the fight by unanimous decision, with Parker now seemingly keen to avenge that loss as he aims to get back towards the world heavyweight title.
It was the typical humorous video that Parker has become synonymous with to make his call out of Whyte, taking inspiration from Take That to try and gain the attention of his rival.
Whyte recently made his return to the ring in Ireland, stopping Christian Hammer after a long period out of the ring due to an adverse finding in a drugs test prior to his scheduled fight with Joshua last August.
Whyte has since been cleared after it was announced the failed test was the result of contamination, and with ‘The Bodysnatcher’ also keen to get back to the top of the ladder, a fight with Parker may well be on the cards.
