According to Worldboxingnews.net, there is a World heavyweight title shot at stake when David Haye and Tony Bellew collide for the second time in December.
What originally was just a rematch to settle a beef has now turned into a title eliminator fight. Tony Bellew was linked to fighting Joseph Parker for the WBO World heavyweight title at some point this year but that didn’t come fruition, at least not yet.
David Haye and The Fury’s reportedly went through discussions about a title fight in December had Hughie Fury won but those plans also got derailed with Parker’s majority decision victory.
Bellew has never fought for a current heavyweight champion before and he’s said many times that it is a goal of his to become one.
“I love the thought of becoming heavyweight champion of the world, so my preference will be Parker,” told Bellew earlier during the summer.
Haye has also been vocal about going after the cream of the crop in the heavyweight division. ‘The Hayemaker’ recently called out Anthony Joshua but it’s obvious that the Londoner needs at least one world title to get any attention from Joshua.
But before possibly facing Haye or Bellew, the current WBO World heavyweight champion has one challenger ahead.
WBN also reports that Parker will pick an opponent from the WBO rankings and fight again in December. This fight will most likely happen in New Zealand or somewhere else close to home.
Some of the big names on the list are Dillian Whyte, Jarrell Miller, Dominick Breazeale and Christian Hammer.
But for his next big fight, Parker has said that he wants to return back to the UK.
“I feel like this [UK] is where the heavyweights are at the moment. I think if this goes well there are going to be a lot of fights for us in the UK,” said Parker.
