Josh Kelly And Aaron Chalmers Top July 30 Show In Newcastle

It’s been confirmed that Josh Kelly (11-1-1, 7 KOs) will return home to the Northeast of England for his next fight.

The Sunderland Super Welterweight will headline a Wasserman Boxing show on July 30 at the Vertu Motors Arena in Newcastle live on Channel 5 (UK).

The 28-year-old finally got his career going again with a one-sided win over Peter Kramer in Liverpool on June 17. While the Hungarian was out of his depth Kelly produced a performance that would have excited new promoter Kalle Sauerland.

Kelly will face ‘El Tornado’ Lucas Bastida (18-1-1, 10 KOs) at Super Welterweight in Newcastle, having suffered only one defeat the Argentine fighter will be coming to try and spoil the party.

Joining him on the same show is Newcastle middleweight Aaron Chalmers who got his pro career up and running with a four-round points win over Alexander Zeledon on the same card over ten days ago.

In a Wasserman press release Kelly said:

“It was great to be back doing what I love again.”

“I was happy to be able to show my power and precision against a strong tough durable 154lb opponent [like Kramer].”

“It’s exciting times – going back up to the Northeast and being able to be busy again is exactly what I want. Staying active and producing more of the same is the main thing now, I’m hungry for more.”

Chalmers, a former reality TV star and MMA fighter, says his local fans can expect more from him in his second fight next month.

“The fans can expect more aggression from me in this fight.”

“I was a little hasty on my debut, but a calculated and aggressive fighter is what to expect. I don’t come to go the distance, and if I can get a knockout win in Newcastle, I know I’ll blow the roof of the place.”

Tickets for the “North East Takeover” show are available through the Wasserman Boxing website.
