# Jack Catterall Says Josh Taylor Is Under Pressure To Make Rematch Happen

Jack Catterall believes Josh Taylor has bowed to public pressure to try and ensure a rematch between the two happens.

A return bout could take place later this year after [Taylor spoke publicly about wanting to fight Catterall again](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/josh-taylor-gives-catterall-deadline/).

In February at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro the [Scot retained his four Super Lightweight world titles](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/taylor-retains-undisputed-crown-with-controversial-win-over-catterall/) by split decision. The controversial result brought together a public fallout which has shown no signs of stopping.

[Taylor has vacated his WBA and WBC titles](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/josh-taylor-on-why-he-vacated-wba-title/) leaving him as the Unified champion at 140lbs.

Speaking on [Talksport’s recent Fight Night instalment](https://talksport.com/sport/boxing/1151801/jack-catterall-says-josh-taylor-caved-public-pressure-agreeing-rematch/) Catterall explained why he thinks Taylor is now wanting a rematch.

> “I believe he’s under a lot of pressure, from the public as well, for this fight to happen.”
>
> “Let’s make no mistake, he’s lost a lot of support since the fight. I think the way he’s carried himself and his words and his actions post-fight.”
>
> “I don’t think there’s any fight for him there at Welterweight at the minute, and there’s certainly no one else at 140.”

During post-fight interviews in February Taylor revealed he would jump up to the star-studded Welterweight division but now looks set to put that on hold.

However, in a recent [interview with the Edinburgh Evening News](https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/boxing/josh-taylor-ready-for-round-two-with-jack-catterall-as-grudge-rematch-edges-closer-3759147) the Preston southpaw said he would not wait around forever for Catterall to agree a deal.

> “Hopefully my team can agree a deal with his. I’ll give him three- or four-weeks tops, but if I don’t hear anything then I’ll be moving on.”
