Joe Joyce Set To Face Unexpected Heavyweight For March Comeback

Joe Joyce is slated to return to the ring on March 16 to begin his route back to the top of the heavyweight division but starting much lower down the ladder than expected.

‘The Juggernaut’ started 2023 on a high as WBO mandatory challenger and fresh off a career-best stoppage over Joseph Parker. His form wouldn’t continue when he met Zhilei Zhang in April.

The Chinese southpaw bamboozled the Brit, eventually forcing a stoppage by causing extensive damage to his eye. Joyce admirably entered into an immediate rematch and met Zhang again in September.

He suffered a worse result still, this time being floored by a devastating right hand in the third round and ending any claims that his chin was uncrackable.

Boxing News now reports that the 38-year-old will kick off his comeback after a year to forget against Kash Ali on March 16 in Birmingham.

Since a disqualification in 2019 against David Price for biting, Ali built up six victories in a row before coming up short in a six-round points decision against Bohdan Myronets in July of 2023.

The card is also expected to feature an English Heavyweight Title bout between defending champion Sol Dacres and challenger David Adeleye. It will be headlined by British Middleweight Champion Nathan Heaney.
