Sheffield superstar Kell Brook has been linked to a return to the ring over recent few weeks, following his retirement earlier this year and he looked sharp on the pads as he reunited in the gym with trainer Dominic Ingle.
Rumours of a comeback for Brook have gathered momentum recently, with big money fights such as Chris Eubank Jr. and Liam Smith being touted as potential opponents. ‘Special K’ had retired after defeating long-term rival Amir Khan earlier this year, but he seems to have got that itch to return to the ring and a clip of him hitting the pads was posted on Dominic Ingle’s Instagram.
The Khan fight looked to be the cherry on top of a fantastic career for the former IBF welterweight world champion, but the buzz and atmosphere surrounding that fight would make it harder for any fighter to leave the sport.
Ingle admitted that Brook and his team were keeping tabs on the recently postponed Eubank-Benn fight, with an eye on fighting the winner, but the collapse of that fight means Brook may need to take an alternative route if he is to return to action.
In a recent interview, Ingle believes that the fire in the belly of Brook has been reignited since ditching the ring, but he reaffirmed that if he and Brook are to partner up once more, it needs to be for the right reasons. A poorly matched, money-motivated fight, could taint the legacy of Brook, but there are plenty of big fights that Brook will fancy his chances in that are there to be made.
