Kell Brook has sent a message to the person who leaked a video of him using drugs earlier this year and, remarkably, said he wishes to thank the culprit.
The video, recorded in Brook’s home, led to an outpouring of support from the boxing public to the former world champion, as well as criticism in the direction of the party responsible for the leak.
But Brook told Boxing King Media that he is now in a much better place, and for that reason would like to thank the person who put the video in the public domain.
“I was in very dark places for a long time. As a fighter, I keep things to myself, the struggles I’ve had to deal with. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.”
“The guy who leaked it, one day I’ll actually thank him. Because I think God did this for a reason. Now I’m on the up and I’m feeling amazing.”
“I’m not late, I’m sticking to my schedule – the list goes on. Without going to much into it, I’m on the mend.”
Brook has not boxed since his memorable sixth round stoppage of long term rival Amir Khan last February, in front of a cacophonous Manchester Arena.
After previously admitting to struggling with retirement, ‘The Special One’ is now back in the gym and speculation is rife he could return to the ring later this year.
A back and forth with Conor Benn has emerged in the past few days, who accused Brook of ducking a fight with him after the victory over Khan.
Though Benn is expected to face Manny Pacquiao next, an all British dust up with Brook towards the back end of 2023 seems to be a real possibility.
