There seems to be ever-louder talk of Kell Brook returning to the ring for once last dance against someone who sees to be an ‘arrogant’ rival that he ‘just doesn’t like.’
Walking away from the sport can be the hardest thing a boxer must do in their career, though Brook seemed to have a more perfect out than many.
He finally got a huge Sky Box Office fight he had chased for most of his career when he came up against his long time British rival Amir Khan in Manchester back in February of 2022.
Brook ran out the winner after soon hurting Khan then eventually knocking him out in the sixth round. Since then, however, he has often been mentioned as a possible opponent for younger contenders like Chris Eubank Jr, Conor Benn and even Liam Smith.
Speaking to UpFront with Simon Jordan he has now been asked about where he is at right now.
“I’m getting a bit bored. I didn’t know what it was like to retire but I look at these fighters now and I think I can beat these guys.
“I love a challenge, I love competition, I love getting in good shape, I love the diet, the training, the hard spars, I love it when people like yourself see I can’t win a fight. I love that. I’m retired but I could come back for them kind of fights.”
He was then asked which of the proposed fights he’d like.
“Realistically I’d prefer to fight Chris Eubank Jr. It’s not easy at the weight I just don’t like him. He’s so arrogant. I’d get through the camp easier, there’s summat about him that gets through me.
“He just grinds at me so bad. I don’t know if it’s cause he’s smarter than me, I dunno. He’s got summat, but I just don’t like the kid. I dislike him more than Amir Khan.”
