British boxing legend, Carl Froch, has given his emphatic prediction ahead of the rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr.
Smith shocked many fans when he stopped Eubank for the first time in his career in the fourth round of their fight back in January.
Eubank activated his contractual rematch clause and now the two are set to run it back in what most see as a possible career ending fight for ‘Next Gen’.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Froch, believes it will be a repeat of their first encounter and will end with Eubank getting ‘flattened’ by Smith.
“My official prediction for this fight is Chris Eubank Jr to get flattened [by Liam Smith]. I did say earlier that he might end up winning on points, Liam smith, he could end up getting a decision victory but I think the decision will be in Liam favour but I think he’s going to get him by stoppage. If it doesn’t come early it will be mid to late – I think he gets Chris Eubank Jr out of there.
I think Liam Smith will turn the screw in the middle rounds and get to Chris Eubank who I don’t think will be able to cope with the pressure and boxing IQ of Liam Smith as the fight goes into the later rounds, if it gets to them.”
The recently inducted hall of famer went on to say that a defeat for Eubank will only leave him with one option – a clash against family rival Conor Benn.
“Eubank Jr is in this game to make money and he’s go that name to do it, he’s quite a big star, he’s got a crossover appeal.
Even if it’s another bad loss I think people will still want to see him in there against someone like Conor Benn at 160lbs, it’s a big fight because of the Eubank and Benn names. Other than that fight maybe it is curtains on his career.”
Liam Smith vs Chris Eubank Jr 2 takes place on September 2nd at Manchester Arena and can be watched live on Sky Sports Box Office.
