Lewis Crocker will make the first defence of his IBF welterweight world title against former champion Liam Paro in Brisbane, Australia, on 23rd June.

The unbeaten Belfast fighter won the vacant IBF crown with a hard fought points victory over Paddy Donovan at Windsor Park last September.

Crocker hoped to make his first world title defence in front of a home crowd in Belfast. However, the fight went to purse bids after Australian promoters No Limit Boxing outbid Matchroom for the hosting rights.

Therefore, the contest will now take place in Brisbane, where Paro will fight in front of his home supporters.

The bout represents a major opportunity for Paro because he is aiming to become a two weight world champion. The Australian southpaw previously captured the IBF super-lightweight title with an impressive win over Subriel Matias.

However, Paro lost the belt in his first defence against Richardson Hitchins in December.
