Liam Smith is set to fight Chris Eubank Jr next weekend and, as ever, Eubank has been playing mind games in the build-up.
This time out, the 33-year-old has boasted that he is going to ‘cook’ Smith – nicknamed ‘Beefy’ – and confidently claims that the scouser is ‘just another piece of meat for him to ‘sautee’.
Smith’s response to Eubank’s recent antics has been as expected – both blunt and dismissive of any war of words and simply labelling his opponent as a ‘stupid c***.’.
Eubank has also said that his opponent is ‘rattled’ – and offered the information that he recently privately messaged him as proof.
Now, the former WBO super-welterweight champion from Liverpool has revealed that it was Eubank who started the Instagram exchange. Something he believes to be a sign of nerves.
“He sent a video, that come in my DM’s, so I just replied to him. I just put, ‘you crazy div’, that’s all I said to him. He replied and started trying to get into his games, so I said ‘are you really that nervous that you are still trying to get under my skin?’ We are a week out, we’re here now, you don’t need to try no more’.
I feel like it is a bit of nerves showing with him. It’s hard to then carry on the DM’s when he is saying ‘do you want it medium, well-done or bloody?’, it is just his usual b*****ks really. I just think it is his nerves kicking in.”
“I think that the penny has dropped, and he knows that he can’t get in my head. He knows he can’t intimidate me in that way. Whatever way you want to go about this, I’ll go about this with you Chris.
If you want to go there, I’ll go there with you, but you are not going to get under my skin by doing your s**te, turning up in KFC jackets and that. It makes you look more of a fool than me, so you know, you do you and let’s see what happens on Saturday.”
