Teofimo Lopez makes his super lightweight debut this weekend in Las Vegas against Pedro Campa, and the 25-year-old has been discussing potential opponents as he looks to win even more world titles.
The former world lightweight champion said that a fight against fellow up and coming super lightweight fighter Ryan “King Ry” Garcia interests him and his team.
The unbeaten Garcia, who has called out Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis several times at lightweight, has also made the step up to 140lbs following his recent win against Javier Fortuna.
Lopez made an appearance on Max Kellerman’s ‘Max on Boxing’ with the host informing his guest that Garcia is interested in fighting him.
“Ryan Garcia said if he can’t get a fight with (Gervonta) Tank Davis, he’d love to fight you at 140. I love you against Tank Davis, but I’d take you against Ryan Garcia all day.”
In response, Lopez exclaimed that he’s not afraid of any fighter and would fight anyone that is put in front of him.
“Honestly, to be real, I’m willing to take on anyone, I’ve always been that way. It’s the takeover! Nothing really changes from this point forward.”
Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya has said that he will attend Lopez’s fight this weekend.
‘The Golden Boy’ revealed last week that he had “given up” on negotiating a deal with Gervonta Davis and was now turning his head towards a Teofimo Lopez clash for his star fighter.
