# Luis Nery Threatens Naoya Inoue With Mike Tyson Comparison Ahead Of Fight

Luis Nery has threatened Naoya Inoue that he could be in for a big surprise when the two fight at a legendary venue in Tokyo and has made a comparison to a dispersion night that Mike Tyson once endured there back in the nineties.

The undisputed junior featherweight showdown between Nery and Inoue will take centre stage in a world title quadruple header set for Monday, May 6 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.

Mexican former two-division world champion Luis Nery has acknowledged the daunting challenge ahead of him, but he’s no stranger to defying the odds.

With a chance to pull off a significant upset, Nery will step into the ring against betting favourite and pound-for-pound king ‘The Monster’ Inoue for all four major belts in the division.

This much-anticipated event marks the return of boxing to “The Big Egg” for the first time since February 1990, [when James “Buster” Douglas shocked the world by knocking out Tyson in the 10th round and thereby claiming the undisputed heavyweight crown in one of the sport’s most memorable upsets.](https://www.thefightcity.com/baddest-myth-planet-legacy-douglas-vs-tyson/)

[Speaking via Top Rank,](https://www.toprank.com/all-news/luis-nery-if-mike-tyson-can-lose-his-unbeaten-record-at-tokyo-dome-so-can-naoya-inoue/) Nery backed himself to beat Inoue on the night.

*“I’m the only one who can beat Inoue because I have good power, I can take punches, I have heart, and I’m willing to die in the ring. I’m a fighter who, above all, is a brawler.*

*“I like to brawl in the ring. But, I like to counter as well. If the fight allows for it, and if the fighter and the style allow for it, then I do it. I adapt to whatever style of fight I’m in to get the victory.”*

[He then said Inoue, who recently spoke about fighting in the US,](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/inoue-on-if-he-will-fight-in-the-usa-again/)  has made a mistake by taking the fight.

*“I think that Inoue shouldn’t have taken this fight. If I were in his shoes, I wouldn’t have taken it. He has nothing to win by beating me. In fact, he has everything to lose. I have nothing to lose.*

*“I’m not a champion. I’m not at the top like him. I’m going for all the marbles. I’m coming with everything. I will take risks, and I’m willing to die in the ring.”*

Finally, Nery referenced the unforgettable night in 1990 when the then-undefeated Tyson took his first loss.

*“This is an important fight. It deserves to be in an arena that is just as important like the Tokyo Dome. And I think it’s a sign. If Mike Tyson can lose his unbeaten record there, then so can Naoya Inoue. Now, Mike Tyson was actually a monster. He for sure was an assassin. So, I’m happy that they made the fight at Tokyo Dome.”*

All the talk is now done, and it is time for Nery to prove that he can back up his words with his actions in the ring.
