Luke Rockhold wants Charles Oliveira stripped of BMF title in shocking UFC take

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold wants the UFC to strip Charles Oliveira of his BMF title. Although Oliveira dominantly won the BMF strap, the Brazilian chose wrestling over a slugfest to dethrone Max Holloway. He eventually carted away a unanimous decision after a five-round lightweight tussle.

This decision has attracted criticism from many fans. Some have even called for the UFC to retire the BMF belt with claims that it failed to serve its purpose at UFC 326. Rockhold, however, has more elaborate wishes. Besides stripping Oliveira of his title, Rockhold has a fight suggestion for the UFC BMF title.

Luke Rockhold wants Max Holloway vs. King Green for the UFC BMF title

Rockhold shared his wild suggestion on the JAXXON Podcast. He wants the UFC to strip Oliveira of his BMF belt and have Max Holloway combat MMA veteran King Green for the belt. Green currently holds a three-fight winning streak, demonstrating notable heroics during his last show at UFC 328. During the event, the 39-year-old submitted Jeremy Stephens in Round 1, showing fans he still has plenty to offer.

“I think they should strip the BMF belt from Oliveira and give it back to Max, and have Bobby and Max fight.”

Following his UFC 326 win, Rockhold called out Conor McGregor for a potential showdown in the future. The remark, however, didn’t sit well with some professionals, including Nate Diaz. Diaz thinks fighting McGregor, who is struggling to regain his physical fitness after a prolonged injury, is cowardly.

McGregor broke his leg during a trilogy against Dustin Poirier in 2021. According to The New York Post, he’s planning a restricted return to the cage when he fights Max Holloway at a potential UFC 329 fight. McGregor’s team also reportedly wants the bout at welterweight. While the promotion has yet to make any official announcements surrounding the fight, the rumors align with Diaz’s concerns about Oliveira’s ambition.

Regardless of what people think about Oliveira’s legitimacy as the BMF title holder, the Brazilian has time and subsequent fights to prove his championship. While the promotion may consider the fans’ idea about the BMF title’s worth, Oliveira is free to brag about his well-deserved UFC 326 win.
