Paulie Malignaggi says Deontay Wilder will get “eviscerated” in his third fight against Tyson Fury next month.
Fury and Wilder will meet on July 24 in Las Vegas for the Brit’s WBC heavyweight and Ring magazine titles 17 months on from their second fight which Fury won comprehensively. And it will be over three years since the pair fought out a dramatic draw, first time around, when the American held the green belt.
Malignaggi, a former two-weight world champion, was speaking to The Schmo and gave his conclusive verdict on Fury-Wilder 3.
“I think Wilder is going to get absolutely eviscerated in the fight,” said the ‘Magic Man’.
“I think he’s going to get smoked to where he’s actually never going to be the same again because he took a bad beating second time around. The first time I thought Fury outpointed him. The second time he took a bad beating that will usually change a lot of guys in general. To ask for that kind of beating again I don’t see where he’s going.
“Here’s the thing, Wilder doesn’t know how to fight going backwards, you’re not going to figure out a way going backwards, you’re not going to mentally, psychologically change yourself to a point and physically change yourself where you’re going to figure out how to fight this guy going backwards. Fury will back you up and once Fury’s backing you up, he’s going to bully you.
“If he proves me wrong more power to him but what is gonna happen when you’re starting to get backed up by Fury again?”
