Paulie Malignaggi Predicts Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson: “He’d Make It Look Easy”

Paulie Malignaggi thinks one man would ‘make it look easy’ should Gervonta Davis and Shakur Stevenson ever come to blows in the ring.

These are two of the most high profile names in the sport right now. Davis’ fight last April against Ryan Garcia was the biggest of his career and he won it by knockout in the seventh.

Stevenson’s last outing was less impressive when he cruised to an easy points win over 12 rounds against Edwin De Los Santos but was accused of running from his opponent.

Since then he has threatened to retire as he struggles to get the big fights he wants but many including Teddy Atlas have said that he might not want to take on the challenge of someone like Davis.

Davia is next out against Frank Martin to defend his WBA world title in summer and will be broadcast on PPV in the USA as part of Al Haymon’s PBC’s new deal with Amazon Prime Video.

Speaking to ProBox TV, Malignaggi was emphatic that Stevenson beats Davis.

“Stevenson is the most cerebral fighter in boxing today. He is the best fighter. If he is looked at in the correct way he will be the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world today. He is the best pure boxer in the sport.

“Nobody can touch him, nobody can beat him, including elite levels guys. Shakur Stevenson would beat Gervonta Davis and make it look pretty easy. Davis’s power is always a wildcard but Shakur Stevenson is way too good.”

Stevenson has recently offered to step in to replace Ryan Garcia should he pull out of his April fight with Devin Haney, but a fight against Davis would also be intriguing.
