Former world champion turned pundit Paulie Malignaggi has been discussing what would happen in a fantasy fight between Tyson Fury and George Foreman.
Fury is at a key stage in his career right now as he enters the last few weeks of training before the biggest fight of his life against Oleksandr Usyk. It is the first undisputed contest in some 24 years and it takes place on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.
That fight saw him put down in the third and only just win a split decision on the scorecards. He will have to box a lot better against Usyk to retain his undefeated status and add the last three belts to his collection alongside the WBC title.
Speaking to ProBox TV about a contest between the two, he agreed Fury would win.
“Fury is typically a guy that when things the moment gets scary it brought out his best. There is no way you can underestimate Foreman, especially young Foreman, he had power, he had that mean scowl, he forced you to take him seriously.
Fury would do what he de a la Wladimir Klitschko, right, he knew it was scary situation, had to go to Germany, big puncher, he kept taking, talking, but stayed focus and brought out his best. He knows how to push a fighter back and a puncher going backward is not a puncher.”
Whether Fury takes a similar aggressive strategy against Usyk when they come to blows, we shall soon find out.
