Rumours began circulating last weekend that Manny Pacquiao and Conor Benn might be shaping up to fight one another and now an update has been given on a potential location for the contest.
Pacquiao is a multi-weight legend who many thought was retried. He hasn’t fought for a couple of years since he lost to Yordenis Ugas though he has always said he wanted to fight once more.
Benn is still on the comeback following his drug testing failures back in October 2022 and has been linked with the likes of Gervonta Davis, Devin Haney and Chris Eubank Jr – who has now bene linked with Terrence Crawford – though nothing has yet been secured.
Speaking to IFL TV, promoter Eddie Hearn has teased where this potential fight might happen.
“Listen, we all want that fight and obviously Manny flew in for talks and to watch the show in Saudi so that’s what we’d like to do. We’re waiting for the Conor Benn announcement from the appeal, we were told two weeks and it’s now nearly four weeks so any day we’ll be hearing about that appeal.
“It’s not in our hands in hands, it’s in the hands of the board and that will determine where Conor Benn’s next fight will be because quite frankly we could do Conor Benn versus Pacquiao in a stadium in London.
“It’s a fight I like, people say oh he’s not the Manny Pacquiao of old – thank god for that. I think it’s a 50-50 fight at this stage.”
Despite London being mentioned, the fight is more likely expected to take place in Saudi Arabia in May or June.
