Marsellos Wilder will return to the ring next month.
The younger brother of Deontay Wilder, the WBC champion in the sport’s heavyweight division, will make his debut in the UK in the coming weeks after being added to a pay-per-view show.
Wilder the second, 29, has a ledger of 3-0 with two stoppage victory’s since turning professional last year and he will be showcased to the British fans on February 23.
He will box at the O2 Arena in London, exclusively live on ITV Box Office, as part of the supporting cast to the vacant IBO World super middleweight title clash between former IBF king James DeGale and former IBO champion Chris Eubank Jr.
But before that, he will come up against Will Florentino at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on January 26, on the undercard of Keith Thurman’s return against Josesito Lopez in a defence of his WBA ‘Super’ World welterweight title.
“I’m grateful to get this ultimate experience to be able to go to another country and showcase my talents to another culture,” said Wilder. “I’m going to give it my all and give it my best for the fans in the UK and represent the U.S.
“It’s going to be great to have my brother, who is the heavyweight champion of the world, able to watch me perform in the UK. It brings me a lot of motivation and pride to be able to perform in the UK and represent our last name. I’m super-blessed and I think it’s amazing.”
Joe Joyce will fight Bermane Stiverne in a heavyweight showdown on the card, while Lee Selby will return to the ring up at lightweight against Omar Douglas.
Further details regarding the card will be revealed in due course.
