Savannah Marshall’s vacant WBO middleweight title clash with Scotland’s Hannah Rankin has been cancelled following news that trainer Peter Fury tested positive for Covid-19.
Marshall – known as ‘The Silent Assassin’ – was due to fight for world honours for the first time under the tutelage of Peter Fury on Saturday’s Matchroom bill, though the fight will now be rescheduled.
“Unfortunately Savannah Marshall’s trainer Peter Fury has tested positive for COVID-19,” A statement from Matchroom Boxing read. “Saturday’s WBO World Middleweight Title fight is off the card.
“All other fighters and teams tested negative. The fight will be rescheduled in due course and our best wishes are with Peter.”
