Matchroom Boxing have won the purse bid for George Kambosos Jr’s IBF lightweight title eliminator with Lee Selby, with a winning submission of $277,777.
Kambosos Jr was previously due to face Selby in Cardiff before Covid-19 led to the cancellation of their bout, though the pair will now meet under new terms on a date yet to be determined.
Tuesday’s IBF purse bid was held via video call, with Matchoom Boxing trumping Lou DiBella’s bid of $260,000. Sydney’s Kambosos – as per the IBF’s regulations – will receive 60% ($166,667), while Selby will take home $111,000 for a bout likely to be in his hometown.
The winner of their contest will become mandatory challenger for the IBF lightweight title, which is currently held by Teofimo Lopez.
