WBO super-featherweight champion Mikaela Mayer will make her first title defence against Argentine veteran Erica Farias at the Virgin Hotels resort in Las Vegas on June 19.
Mayer-Farias will serve as the chief support for unified bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue’s title clash with Filipino puncher Michael Dasmarinas on a Top Rank promotion.
According to ESPN.com, American Mayer (14-0, 5 KO) will return in two months after winning the WBO crown on the cards against Ewa Brodnicka last October.
Farias (26-4, 10 KO) is a former WBC 135lbs and 140lbs titleholder. She has lost three of her last five, but all at elite world title level against Jessica McCaskill (twice) and Cecilia Braekhus.
In a competitive weight class, Mayer is angling for unifications with Terri Harper (WBC/IBO), Maiva Hamadouche (IBF) and Hyun Mi Choi (WBA) later in the year.
