Fear not, the fight is still signed and sealed but there is one quite big problem still to overcome.
It was announced that the fight would take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26th. Problem is, the Arena was originally booked by rapper Ice Cube. According to TMZ, the rapper is not going to budge and so far the date is his.
Cube is hosting his BIG3 basketball event exactly on the same date and is already selling tickets. The double booking is causing problems behind the scenes.
“It’s a standoff,” writes TMZ.com.
According to the site, organisers of the Mayweather-McGregor fight are doing their best to move Ice Cube’s basketball event into the MGM Grand Garden Arena. But apparently, Cube and his crew are not moving.
Turf wars are probably something Ice Cube is definitely used to. Will he make room for the most expensive boxing fight ever or is there a big ‘F U’ on the way?
We’ll keep you posted.
