It was one of the most memorable moments in boxing in 2019 and now Michael Conlan could be set to return to Falls Park, Belfast in August.
August 2019 saw the Northern Irishman headline the Feile at Falls Park as he embarked on his 12th professional fight when he faced Diego Ruiz. As Conlan left his dressing room the sounds of Grace echoed through the night sky with the venue lit up by mobile phones held by the 10,000 crowd. Conlan’s following will get the chance to do it all again according to the Belfast Telegraph.
David Kelly says that the 29-year-old will have one more fight in Belfast, at Falls Park, before going back to America, specifically New York’s Madison Square Garden, in December to challenge for a world super-bantamweight title.
Conlan, trained by Adam Booth, has made no secret of the fact that he would love to face current WBO champion Stephen Fulton. His wish may become reality because right now Conlan is the current number one WBO contender for Fulton’s title. The American however will hope to become a three-belt world champion when he takes on Brandon Figueroa on September 11. Figueroa unified the division earlier this month in a firefight against Luis Nery to hold both the WBA and WBC belts.
