Mike Tyson has shown former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Francis Ngannou, how to fight with Tyson Fury.
‘Iron Mike’s unique peek-a-boo style helped him get on the inside of many a bigger heavyweight – his bullish charge forwards using angles and a high guard giving him the room to let his shots off. The tactics helped him to 44 knockouts from 50 wins.
The boxing legend – who incidentally made such a mark on the sport that Fury was named after him – unsurprisingly believes that getting close to ‘The Gypsy King’ and firing off short punches to his body is the way to beat him.
He told Ngannou – who may just need the advice should a rumoured fight with Fury come to fruition – the ideal tactics.
“Fury, he punches long. So when he punches long, you let those short punches inside. Hit him around [the body]. Power punches to the body.”

Interestingly, Ngannou has recently turned down a deal to continue fighting for the UFC – the one stumbling block in the way of him making a ring debut against a heavyweight superstar.
Following Fury’s victory over Dillian Whyte at Wembley Stadium in April, the MMA star entered the ring and looked to set up a crossover super event with the WBC champ.
Now free to do so without the constraints of a UFC contract, his name is being mentioned with Fury, as well as Deontay Wilder – an undoubtedly explosive spectacle between two of the hardest hitters on the planet.
The heavyweight scene, though, is all business in 2023. As Fury and Oleksandr Usyk try to become undisputed, the likes of Wilder and Anthony Joshua are trying to position themselves to pick up a belt in the aftermath.
Having said that, it’s not out of the question that a big money offer might tempt one of the stars of the division into a bout with Ngannou – and having Mike Tyson provide the tactics certainly won’t hurt.
