Mike Tyson has weighed in with his thoughts on a potential clash between young American stars Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.
After a drawn out negotiation process, it looks like the pair are set for an April 15th showdown in Las Vegas, with fans hopeful of an announcement in the coming weeks.
And former heavyweight world champion Tyson told ES News he is slightly favouring ‘Tank’, but refused to count out the lightning quick Garcia.
“You know what’s so interesting about this fight? It looks like ‘Tank’ is going to win, but you never know!”
“I watched Garcia fight Fortuna and he beat him easily.”
Davis and Garcia have gone back and forth on social media for months, and a fight between the two is widely regarded as one of the biggest to be made in the sport.
Issues had arose over the broadcasting rights of a potential rematch, with a clause in place should Garcia defeat Davis, however recent reports suggest this has been resolved.
Showtime have secured the rights to show the initial meeting, with DAZN expected to air a second fight should ‘King Ry’ get the better of his formidable countryman.
As two of the biggest names in boxing with a combined social media following that goes well into the tens of millions, it looks like fans may just finally be treated a marquee match up that has evaded them for so long.
