Mike Tyson has made his final prediction ahead of this weekend’s super-middleweight clash that sees Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez defend his undisputed title against Jermell Charlo, who makes a two division jump up for the challenge.
Canelo has faced criticism over the last few months following on from three successive below-par performances.
Against Dmitry Bivol he picked up his first defeat in almost nine years, and decision wins over both Gennadiy Golovkin and John Ryder – two opponents that his fans believe that he should have been able to knock out – followed.
Meanwhile, Charlo claimed the undisputed 154lbs title on his last outing sixteen months ago, knocking out Brian Carlos Castano in sensational style.
‘Iron Man’ will be hoping that he doesn’t feel any ring rust come fight night, as he looks to become just the third man to defeat Alvarez in sixty-four contests.
In an interview with Little Giant Boxing, heavyweight legend ‘Iron’ Mike said that although he wants to see his fellow countryman perform well, he favours the proven super-middleweight, Canelo, to come out on top.
“I think that it is going to be a good fight. I want to go with Charlo, Canelo is not the person that he used to be, but I think that he may have enough for Charlo. I want Charlo to do well, but Canelo wins. It is going to be tough, I know that.”
Canelo-Charlo will take place on September 30 live on Showtime PPV in the United States and available as a part of a regular subscription with DAZN for fans in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
