Miles Shinkwin has been given his next fight date as the English light-heavyweight champion will make a defence of his title before the first quarter of the year is out.
Shinkwin will face Kirk Garvey in a voluntary defence on March 2.
The fight will take place on a card promoted by Ryan Smith at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue, according to the latest round of British Boxing Board of Control circulars, with further details to be revealed in due course.
Linus Udofia will face Tey-Lynn Jones in a final eliminator for the English middleweight title on that card. The belt is currently held by Reece Cartwright and the Board of Control has put a clash between him and Jack Cullen out to bids.
Meanwhile, super-flyweight champion Bradley Watson has been ordered to defend against Craig Derbyshire, the current Central Area champion, with the fight having to happen before the end of May.
Steve Wood will promote a vacant English featherweight title showdown between Reece Mould and Sean Davis after Zahid Hussain withdrew and Lee Appleyard will face Kieron McLaren in an official eliminator for the English lightweight title on March 8 at the Metrodome in Barnsley on a Stefy Bull-promoted card.
Sam O’Maison, the English super-lightweight champion, will be back in action sooner rather than later after it was revealed that he would defend against Kayamba Prospere on March 16 at York Hall.
The discussion surrounding the cruiserweight division has been shelved until next month’s Board meeting after injury to Chris Billam-Smith, who was meant to meet Deion Jumah for the vacant English title.
But what we do know is that Christian Kinsiona will box Micky Ellison in an official super-middleweight title eliminator on March 2 in Rotherham.
Matthew Wigglesworth will defend his Central Area middleweight title against John Telford on March 9 at the KCOM Stadium’s Kingston Suite in Hull in a fight that doubles up as an official eliminator for the aforementioned Reece Cartwright’s English middleweight title.
Brian Rose is set for an English super-welterweight title shot against holder Adam Harper, with Lee Eaton set to promote it on March 29 at the University of Bolton Stadium.
An official eliminator for Harper’s title between Billy Bird and Jack Flatley has been put out to purse bids and must happen by the end of May.
And Tyrone Nurse will challenge Ekow Essuman for the English welterweight title on March 16 at a venue to be confirmed in Nottingham.
