Former WBO 154lbs champion Jaime Munguia (36-0, 29 KOs) will continue his middleweight campaign against Poland’s Maciej Sulecki (29-2, 11 KOs) at The University of Texas at El Paso’s Don Haskins Center on April 24.
Broadcast live worldwide on DAZN (excluding Mexico), the 12-round bout will take place under strict Covid-19 fan safety protocols with a reduced capacity below 40%. Similar to the Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell broadcast in January, the event will feature an earlier start time of 12:30pm PT/3:30pm ET to maximise the audience across North America and Europe.
“It will be a great fight against great challenger,” said Mexican star Munguia, who is trained by the legendary Erik Morales. “We are training at 100% to be in the best of conditions, and we promise to deliver an exciting battle.”
Former world title challenger Sulecki should provide a decent measuring stick of Munguia’s progress at 160lbs, having dropped decisions against Daniel Jacobs and Demetrius Andrade, but beaten the likes of Jack Culcay and Hugo Centeno.
Sulecki added: “I’m very excited for the opportunity to return to the United States and fight in the main event of such a big card. Jaime Munguia is a strong, young warrior, but I have fought against some of the best of this division. On April 24, I will show the world that I am a top middleweight contender and that I deserve another world title shot.”
