Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire will fight one another on June 7 nearly three years on from their thrilling encounter in Saitama.
The Bantamweight World Boxing Super Series Final was a 2019 fight of the year contender and gave Inoue his toughest assignment to date.
That night ‘The Monster’ successfully defended his WBA and IBF world titles with a unanimous decision win. This time Donaire will put his WBC bauble on the line too.
The evergreen Filipino won the title beating Nordine Oubaali by 4th round knockout. Donaire backed that up by winning by the same result against Reymart Gaballo last December. Now, the 39-year-old, will return to the Saitama Super Arena looking to even the score against Inoue.
“Expect a greater fight than last time!” Inoue said in his fight announcement on Instagram.
The eagerly anticipated showdown will be shown live on Amazon Prime Video in Japan. In Great Britain Sky Sports have an exclusive broadcast deal with Inoue’s promoter Top Rank.
