Crossover and influencer boxing continue to throw out some shock and unlikely match ups and now news has broken that former UFC stars Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are set to come together in the squared circle.
That is a contest not many want to see but it will be going ahead regardless as the first live sporting event to be streamed on Netflix this summer.
Now in another shocking bit of news, two mixed martial artists are stepping into the ring to box on June 1st.
A message posted on X by The MMA Hour host Ariel Helwani has the details, but doesn’t say how many rounds the pair will contest.
“Nathan Diaz x Jorge Masvidal 2 is a done deal. They’ll meet on June 1 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA, in a 10-round 175-pound light heavyweight boxing match, per both camps.
The event will be presented by Fanmio PPV, who also promoted Mayweather x Paul in 2021. Live event ticket info will be announced shortly. Fanmio will present the event in association with Diaz’s Real Fight Inc. and Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing Promotions.”
The two MMA legends fought at UFC 244 in November 2019 at Madison Square Garden, when Masvidal took the win after the fight was stopped on doctor’s orders. Diaz has limited boxing experience having lost to Jake Paul in August 2023 so this could go either way.
