It was brief but Nathan Gorman (19-1, 13 KOs) put in a powerful performance to defeat Tomas Salek (17-4, 13 KOs) in one round at the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool to win the vacant IBF International Heavyweight belt.
His cousin and WBC Heavyweight champion Tyson Fury showed up to lend his vocal support to Gorman who wasted no time setting about Salek.
The jab was positive and troubled the Czech heavyweight champion from the outset. With body shots to follow Salek was in trouble before a bead of sweat had hit the canvas.
It was the type of display that the former British title challenger had to deliver. He clubbed Salek whenever he got the chance and an uppercut and left hook put his opponent down with barely a minute in. Salek recovered but effectively the fight was over. Gorman didn’t play with his food and a left hook kicked off another hammering that bowled Salek over who was in no position to carry on and saved from further punishment.

Josh Kelly
Four rounds of one-way traffic got Josh Kelly (11-1-1, 7 KOs) back to winning ways tonight in Liverpool.
His well-documented 16-month absence from the ring since losing to David Avanesyan is now consigned to the record books after beating up Peter Kramer (12-6-3, 8 KOs) live on Channel 5.
Kelly showed no signs of ring rust and in round one nearly had his man out of there after two minutes. The Sunderland super welterweight clipped his Hungarian foe to the top of the head who looked unsteady staggering backwards, but he survived.
Kramer’s best moment didn’t come until the fourth round when a right-hand reminded Kelly there was two men in the ring. The six minutes beforehand was a mix of angles, accuracy, speed and the showreel uppercuts which Kramer will be seeing in his sleep for the next few nights.
A low blow from Kelly gave Kramer a breather in the fourth with a minute to go. Referee John Latham could have waved the fight off prior to that such was the volume of shots Kramer was taking. The right uppercut would win the night and the fight for the Wasserman fighter as it let rip which was enough for the man in the middle to wave the contest off.
Undercard
There was also a win for highly rated prospect Chloe Watson, securing a points victory (59-56) over Spain’s Fara El Bousairi Garcia. Aaron Chalmers also claimed a 39-37 points win against Alexander Zeledon on his professional boxing debut.
