WBO featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete has agreed terms to face former world title challenger Joet Gonzalez on October 16.
The all-action Mexican was last seen halting Christopher Diaz in the final round in April and will next headline a Top Rank promotion against Californian Gonzalez (24-1, 14 KOs) at a venue to be announced, according to Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com.
Two-weight champion Navarrete (34-1, 29 KOs) has been one of boxing’s most active world class fighters in recent times with seven wins over the last two years under the Top Rank banner.
Another crowd-pleasing clash seems in store against the Golden Boy-promoted Gonzalez, a fellow pressure fighter who dropped a decision in a previous WBO 126lbs tilt against Shakur Stevenson in October 2019.
