Sky’s Head of Boxing Adam Smith says Kell Brook, and Chris Eubank Jr have to come to a compromise if they are to fight one another.
After Kell Brook’s emphatic win in February Chris Eubank Jr was quick to talk up a possible showdown while working for Sky Sports on the night. However, the natural middleweight insists that he will not come down to Brook’s suggested catch-weight of 155lbs for a fight.
In a recent interview Eubank did suggest he would come down to 158lbs but no less. The 32-year-old has continually referred to Brook’s weight jump in the past to meet Gennadiy Golovkin at middleweight in 2016 and sees no reason why he can’t go back up again.
“Kell obviously rolled back the years [against Khan]. He feels he’s got more in the tank, some big fights out there for him,” Smith told Boxing Social’s Ryan Elliott.
“I think the Chris Eubank Jr fight is a massive fight but obviously it’s all about the weight and they have to agree terms on that.
“It’s not fair if Kell has to go up and doesn’t get anything in return. It’s a tough fight. They’ve got to meet somewhere. I know negotiations are starting.”
