The original plans for July 23 have come to an end with time having ran out to secure the fight for then.
August 13 or 20 are now the leading dates for the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua to take place.
Speaking on The DAZN Boxing Show Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn reiterated that the fight would take place and explained why it had to be moved.
“July 23 was obviously the proposed date. We got to a point where now we’re less than seven weeks away. We’ve got global media tours, they’ve got TV rights to secure, international sponsorship deals.
“You’re going to see that fight in August, 13 and 20 the two proposed dates. We are literally signing the paperwork as we go so you will get an official announcement soon. The international media tour will start week commencing June 20 or something like that.
“The fight is on, the fight is happening, Middle East looks pretty much set. I’ll save the exact details for the announcement but we’re pretty much there now.”
