Deontay Wilder is back in training and has released some footage of him at work which could hint at who he might be fighting next.
American and former Olympian ‘The Bronze Bomber’ is at a serious crossroads in his career. The once fearsome knockout artist suffered another loss on the epic Day of Reckoning Card out in Saudi Arabia on December 23rd.
He was beaten on points across 12 rounds by Joseph Parker and was rather meek in the process. He failed to throw his famously heavy right hand – the one that had knocked out so many opponents before and given Tyson Fury plenty of trouble in their trilogy of fights.
Now Wilder is back at work in the gym and his coach Malik Scott has shared a video on Instagram that shows him training for a southpaw along with a threatening caption.

“Back on a serious mission with nothing but bad intentions. 💣🥊📝”
Wilder has been strongly rumoured to be fighting Zhilei Zhang next, the towering Chinese heavyweight who twice stopped Joe Joyce back in 2023, and then got beaten on points over 12, also by a resurgent Joseph Parker.
The fight would be a hugely entertaining contest while it lasted with both men realistically needing a knockout in order to take the win and get themselves back in the heavyweight mix.
It has been suggested it could take place on June 1 as one of the contests on the Matchroom and Queensbury 5 v 5 card which is headlined by the undisputed light heavyweight bout between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.
