Nigel Benn has once again jumped to the aid of son Conor, as well as issuing a stern warning to some of those in the media who have criticised the young Brit.
‘The Dark Destroyer’ has always, as one might expect, publicly protested his son’s innocence after he failed two VADA performance enhancing drugs’ tests last year, causing a hotly anticipated clash with Chris Eubank Jr to be cancelled at the last minute.
And it’s clear he has not been particularly impressed with how talkSPORT have covered the story, labelling pundit Spencer Oliver “smarmy.”
On a recent appearance on the Stamina For Sale YouTube channel, Benn also expressed his displeasure towards Simon Jordan, whom he ominously said would get his “comeuppance.”
“They’ll get their comeuppance. All them people on talkSPORT, like Jordan and that smarmy little Spencer Oliver or whatever his name is. I’d love to backhand him – but I’d get nicked!
Not one of them on talkSPORT say, “Let’s get somebody on to fight for Conor.” They had all the negative people, the boxing board – everyone! They’re all stirring, that’s what they’re all about.
Look what happened to Amir Khan, they didn’t do nothing did they? Then with Conor, you find out in two seconds what they think.”
As a result of the two failed tests, Conor Benn has been out of the ring for well over a year and still does not hold a license with the British Boxing Board of Control.
The National Anti Doping Panel lifted Benn’s UKAD suspension, however that decision has recently been appealed.
‘The Destroyer’ is free to box on international shores, and is tipped to potentially return in September on a card in America.
