The Nevada State Athletic Commission has assigned its officials for Saturday’s WBC heavyweight title clash between champion Tyson Fury and former title holder Deontay Wilder at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Veteran Nevada referee Russell Mora will be the man in the middle, replacing Connecticut’s Mike Ortega who was due to be third man for the originally scheduled trilogy fight on July 24, according to Keith Idec of BoxingScene. That fight date was cancelled after Fury tested positive for Covid-19.
Should the bout head to the scorecards, the spotlight will fall on Nevada judges Tim Cheatham and Dave Moretti, who will be joined by New Jersey’s Steve Weisfeld in scoring the fight.
Weisfeld, who scored Oleksandr Usyk a 116-112 winner over Anthony Joshua less than two weeks ago, steps in for Patricia Morse Jarman, who was originally scheduled to judge proceedings for the July 24 date.
