Ohara Davies has officially announced his new contract signing with MTK Global.
The former Matchroom fighter faced a lot of bad press after his recent controversial tweet. The London based boxer has now elected to join a MTK after being removed from the Okolie-Chamberlain undercard.

In a recent exclusive interview with Boxing Social, Davies went into detail about his current situation in professional boxing and explained why he decided to move on from Eddie Hearn.
It all started when Davies sent out a tweet with the hashtag ‘BuyTheSun’ to Tommy Coyle, his then future opponent. The boxer says he knew that Coyle wasn’t a supporter of The Sun but was not aware of the history between The Sun and the city of Liverpool.
“Did I know about Hillsborough? No. I was not born when it happened and I don’t know about football. I had no idea. I thought people in general don’t like The Sun. I never knew that the scousers don’t like The Sun. What I knew was that Tommy Coyle doesn’t like The Sun because they exposed him that he has been involved with former criminals,” commented Davies.
According to Davies, he was demanded to send out a tweet in order to sell the fight against Coyle and create hype.
“People are talking that I’m on social media too much. That tweet wouldn’t have got sent if those above me didn’t ask me to send a tweet. And if they have an issue with how I should handle my social media then tell me what I’ve should have said. All they said was ‘send a tweet’, they didn’t tell me what I should say,” explained Davies.
He then added:
“Privately they told me that we believe you didn’t know anything about Hillsborough but we have to put a statement out saying you’re suspended from the gym because it offended a lot of people. Instead of making me look that I’ve done something wrong, why don’t you tell the truth and say that I didn’t know anything about Hillsborough?
“If I’m your fighter and you are taking a cut from my purse. I’m paying you guys to make me look good and you’re going against me with the whole world? The F**k am I paying you for?” questioned Davies.
After a meeting with his coaching staff and Hearn, it became clear that Davies would not be involved with Matchroom anymore.
“We had a meeting. I said my point, they said their point. I can understand where they are coming from. They’ve got to protect themselves and their brand.
“Now I’ve got protect myself and my brand which is why they could not be seen to associate with me. I have got to protect myself by telling the truth about what happened.
“After the meeting, I wanted to think for few couple of days and I decided to remove myself from that situation. I wouldn’t say that I left, I had to remove myself from the situation,” said Davies.
Davies will announce his new promoter in the near future.
