Anthony Fowler, Demsey McKean and Fabio Wardley are some of the names added to the Lawrence Okolie-Michal Cieslak undercard on February 27.
Okolie makes the second defence of his world title at the O2 Arena and at today’s press conference promoter Eddie Hearn announced some of the fighters and fights that will join him on the bill.
Anthony Fowler will make his move to middleweight official when he faces Cieslak’s countryman Lukasz Maciec. The Polish 32-year-old has amassed a record of (27-3-1, 5 KOs) and lost his only 12-round fight to Gianluca Branco for the European welterweight title in 2013.
He also took the experienced California Hugo Centeno Jr the eight-round distance in 2015. A pro for over 13 years Maciec has been floating around the middleweight limit for his last few fights.
Australia’s Demsey McKean, now trained by Tony Sims, continues his development in the heavyweight ranks on February 27 when he faces Ariel Bracamonte. The Argentinian has 11 wins and 6 losses and has already fought in the UK having lost to Dave Allen in November 2018.
McKean, unbeaten in 20 fights joined the Matchroom ranks three months ago.
Campbell Hatton gets another opportunity on the big stage with the 21-year-old matched against Joe Ducker (9-8-2, 2 KOs). Hatton fought in Spain last time out and picked up an early KO win against Attila Csereklye.
His fifth win from five starts was an improvement on his showing against Sonni Martinez on the Anthony Joshua-Oleksandr Usyk undercard.
Elsewhere cruiserweight and former Team GB member Cheavon Clarke will join Galal Yafai in making his professional debut on the same night. Eddie Hearn had already said in today’s press release to announce the signing of Yafai that the 2020 Olympic gold medallist will fight for a title (WBC International) in his first bout.
Nineteen-year-old light-heavyweight John Hedges also has a spot on the card in his fifth fight and heavyweight Fabio Wardley, who is still waiting on a British title opportunity, will look to impress once again.
The Ipswich fighter picked up wins against Eric Molina and Nick Webb in 2021 and continues to be linked to a fight against Nathan Gorman this summer.
Opponents for Clarke, Yafai, Hedges and Wardley will be announced in due course.
