Oleksandr Usyk has spoken about Anthony Joshua’s controversial behaviour at the end of their second fight back in 2022 and revealed whether or not he accepts the Brit’s apology.
Joshua’s frustration at losing a second time to Usyk boiled over in the ring after the fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The rematch was another points loss for Joshua and left him without any of the belts he had lost in their first fight in Saudi Arabia the year before.
He took those belts and dumped them over the edge of the ring upon news of his loss and then took the microphone and ranted about a number of things which many onlookers believed to be him showing signs of stress.
Usyk has since fought Daniel Dubois in a second defence of his WBO, WBA and IBF world titles. He came through that fight with a knockout win to set up an opportunity to fight for all four belts next moth.
Speaking to Seconds Out, he was asked about the incident and whether he accepted Joshua’s apology.
“Yes, definitely. Listen, I have bad feelings about Joshua because I respect this man, he’s a great man, great boxer, great person, he’s an Olympic champion, two times a world champion, I think it’s emotion, I respect this man no problem.”
He was then asked if he wanted an apology at all.
“No, I good.”
