Unified world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has weighed in with a prediction for the upcoming undisputed welterweight clash between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
After years of wasted negotiations, back and forth playing of the blame game and breaking the hearts of all boxing fans, Spence and Crawford will finally settle their differences and establish who the best 147lber on the planet is on July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
When asked for a prediction by FightHype, Usyk revealed he was siding with Crawford, before adding that there were certain similarities between ‘Bud’s game and his own.
“It’s a great fight. Terence is a great boxer, and I think he wins, that’s my opinion.”
“There are some similar things [between Crawford and Usyk] when he switches his stance, but this is normal, great fighters often take things to learn from each other.”
Usyk will be hoping his team can finally come to an agreement with Tyson Fury, so he can match Spence and Crawford and get an opportunity of his own to become undisputed champion.
With both Spence and Crawford having entered their mid thirties, fans across the world were losing hope that the undisputed fight would ever take place, especially given the promotional barriers that have always seemed to divide the two.
The pair have never tasted defeat between them and boast plenty of stoppage victories to boot, so fight fans are surely are in for a night to remember in Las Vegas.
Though bookmakers have Crawford a marginal favourite at the time of writing, the contest could swing either way.
