Former multiple-weight world champ turned promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, has make a knockout prediction for Jake Paul’s next test in the sport.
Paul will face retired MMA-star, Anderson Silva. The American YouTuber is yet to face someone who makes a living from professional boxing, however Silva has had two pro bouts.
Despite the apparent jump up in class, De La Hoya expects Paul to extend his undefeated record and come out on top of the Silva scrap. He gave his thoughts to InsideFighting.
“That’s a good fight. I’m gonna go with Jake Paul.
Yeah, I’m gonna go with Jake Paul, just because he seems like he’s getting into the rhythm of things. He doesn’t have too many fights.
He loves boxing, is a hard worker, and has a lot of power. If he connects with Silva, he’s going to knock him out. If he touches Silva, he’s going down.”
On the Brazilian’s foray into boxing, he seems to think that it’s not as impressive as it may look on paper. Silva defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr via split decision in June of 2021.
“Everybody’s going based on what Silva did to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Tito Ortiz. Come on. I mean, Chávez Jr wasn’t even 20 per cent of himself. Okay? Conditioning-wise, physically, just wasn’t him. [In this fight, Silva] goes down and gets knocked out.”
‘The Golden Boy’, who hung up the gloves with 39 wins from 45 fights, is confident that Paul will keep to winning ways – however the bookies aren’t as sure, with many having both competitors at even odds for the the win.
The action goes down in Arizona on October 29. Showtime PPV are the broadcasters in America, whilst UK fans can tune in via FITE TV.
