Ahead of his WBA Super welterweight title bout with Yordenis Ugas in Las Vegas this weekend, ring legend Manny Pacquiao says he still hopes to secure a big fight in the UK before retiring.
Pacquiao also revealed he was close to fighting former stablemate and sparring foe Amir Khan at one stage, but refused to explain what led to the collapse of their bout.
“Almost that fight [with Khan happened],” Pacquiao said to Sky Sports. “Almost close to have that fight, but there was a problem about something. I will not disclose it.
“Fighting in the ring, inside the ring is different than training,” said Pacquiao. “Different than sparring or anything. Big difference.
“I hope that one day I could have a fight there,” Pacquiao said. “I’m hoping that one fight in the UK.”
