Joseph Parker has been forced to pull out of his October 26 heavyweight clash with Dereck Chisora due to illness. The pair were pencilled in to lock horns on the Regis Prograis vs. Josh Taylor bill in London, though Chisora now faces the challenge of finding a new opponent with just under four weeks to go.
Team Parker issued the following statement regarding Parker’s decision to withdraw from the contest:
“Joseph Parker has been battling a health issue at his Vegas training camp ahead of his 26 October fight. Following detailed medical assessment, doctors have confirmed that Joseph Parker is not physically able to train or fight until medical clearance is given.
“A doctors’ certificate has been provided to Joseph Parker’s promoters Matchroom as this health issue will mean that Joseph Parker must withdraw from his scheduled fight against Dereck Chisora on 26 October.
“The fight against Dereck Chisora continues to be one that Joseph Parker and his team want. Once medical clearance in given, Team Parker wants to have the fight promptly rescheduled.”
