Matchroom Boxing have been linked to a plethora of signings in recent weeks and they have now officially confirmed the signature of Team GB Olympian Pat Brown in an exciting announcement, with the proud Mancunian expected to make his professional debut in the near future.
After weeks of speculation, the first of what is assumably many Matchroom signings was unveiled, as a co-promotional agreement with former unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. was revealed.
Meanwhile, Boxing Social sources expect that the signing of Scotland’s former undisputed super-lightweight champion Josh Taylor is also around the corner, with ‘The Tartan Tornado’ anticipated to be stepping up in weight and making his 147lb debut in early 2025.
However, Hearn previously let slip that there would be at least four new signings for Matchroom Boxing, indicating that there would be multiple Olympians and multiple former world champions in an interview with The Stomping Ground.
“Two or three Olympians, former world champions, former undisputed world champions – a lot to come.”
Today, the first of those Olympians was disclosed to the public, as the signing of Team GB’s Paris 2024 heavyweight representative Pat Brown was boasted across their social media platforms, after many fans had incorrectly guessed that yesterday’s Old Trafford-based teased was related to the rumoured showdown between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr.

Training alongside Conner Tudsbury, another recent Matchroom signing, at the Moss Side Fire Station Gym in Manchester, six-foot-six Brown has been trained by Nigel Travis in his amateur days, a coach of Jack Catterall’s.
Yet, it was always Brown’s intentional to turn professional and he has often shown signs that his style is more suited to the professional ranks both inside the ring and out of it, recently impressing with his power on the talkSPORT punching machine.

2024 Olympian 🇬🇧 Pat Brown: “As amateur boxing goes, you’ve got the up style: in and out, in and out. That’s just never been me. My guilty pleasure is having a bit of a tear up and I love it. As long as I’m smart and I’m getting… pic.twitter.com/YMqnrH73i5

At Paris 2024, like much of Team GB, 25-year-old Brown did not deliver on what were high expectations, losing out to Brazil’s Keno Machado in the opening round of the tournament, but wins over the likes of Mateusz Bereznicki and Adam Olaore in the past have shown that Brown has the skills necessary for success.
On the Matchroom Boxing website, Brown explained his delight at teaming up with Hearn and Matchroom and declared his goal of bringing fight nights back to Manchester in similar fashion to fan-favourite Ricky Hatton.
“Matchroom were always my first choice, but you have to weigh up all of your options. After really exciting discussions about the future, it was a no brainer to go with them.
“They are at the pinnacle of boxing and have a great stable of fighters, and I am excited to be the next generation to dominate over the next decade. I believe I have the best team next to me in Eddie and Frank to help me achieve this.
“There’s some huge fights to be made and my dreams have always been to sell out arenas, to bring back them Ricky Hatton days in Manchester. That’s what always gets me going, to have some good wars and good boxing fights. Watch this space, I’ll be coming for it all.”
Now Brown looks to improve upon his Olympic disappointment and, despite his lanky figure, will make his professional debut in the cruiserweight division, with his first fight to be announced imminently.
