Shawn Porter fought all comers in his talent-stacked division, but reserves his highest praise for the “special” skills of three-weight world champion, Terence Crawford.
Next up for ‘Bud’ is WBC, WBA and IBF champion Errol Spence Jr this Saturday in Las Vegas in one of the best fights that can be made in world boxing.
Speaking on his podcast whilst breaking down the fight, Porter detailed Crawford’s unique ability to judge distance.
“That’s the one thing about Terence’s game that, me personally, I think makes him special – the fact that he can be right there in range and seamlessly make the range [disappear.]
I’ve never really seen the way it worked out like it did with Terrence – I know my range and then it’s gone. I know my range and then it’s gone. He has the ability to take the range away and make it invisible.”
Porter didn’t stop there, moving on to praise Crawford’s timing.
“He also has the ability to punch in between guys who are punching. That’s something that I think is extremely crucial for him to do in this fight [against Spence.]”
Given Spence’s own mastery of distance and his ability to work behind a solid jab, the coming together of these two elite and unbeaten American fighters is a mouthwatering prospect.
It will be shown live in the UK on TNT Sports Box Office and Showtime PPV in the US.
