# Shawn Porter Reacts To Fury-Usyk Postponement: “I Told You So”

Shawn Porter claims he called the postponement of the Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk undisputed fight and has a reason why he thinks it has happened.

The news emerged late on Friday that Fury had been badly cut in sparring. Shaky video footage emerged, as did a statement from all parties and many speculative theories from on-lookers, and the original February 17 date was immediately canned.

[Speaking on ProBox TV,](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EIB85Awir4) former world champion Porter reiterated that he knew the fight would not happen.

> “There is nothing prophetic about me telling you guys that Usyk was not going to get in the ring with Tyson Fury, I just know this game, I know this sport, I know what I’m looking at.
>
> “I didn’t think it would be ’cause of a cut or anything, it is what it is. I told you the fight wouldn’t happen, especially on the date it was being sold to us.”

He then explained why he had that theory [while some onlookers such as Carl Froch lay the blame fully at Fury’s door.](https://wp.boxing-social.com/news/carl-froch-on-tyson-fury-cut/)

> “How did I know? I’m looking at a Tyson Fury who is a bit older, he has done enough in the sport to retire, today, yesterday. He does not want to get in the ring with a guy like Usyk and if he does, he is not going to do it until he is ready.”

[Within 24 hours of the night being postponed, it was revealed that the pair will now come to blows on May 18,](https://britishboxingnews.co.uk/news/fury-usyk-may-18/) which at least put paid to some of the rumours and gives us a new date to focus on.
